Instagram stories is your secret weapon...learn how to use it!
Instagram stories is a place to be authentically, you
Traditional social media encouraged us to prioritize perfection over authenticity. In order for a picture to be worthy of adding to our feed, it had to have the perfect lighting, perfect filter, perfect angle, perfect caption...because, aside from a quick delete and retreat, what we published, stayed published.
Instagram stories changed this “perfectionist’s” perspective. With a 24-hour lifespan, your stories allow and encourage you to share your life, in a more authentic way. Here are some reasons why you should be posting to your Instagram stories every day.
1. 300M Daily Active Users
Every day over 300 million people uses Instagram stories, making it one of the fastest growing platforms in history. This means more eyeballs ready to land on your content!
2. You Can Test Out Ideas
Instagram stories are not “permanent” which makes them a great testing ground for ideas your not 100% sure on. If you receive positive feedback on your story (great comments and/or people watch your story in its entirety) then you should consider using that strategy on a more consistent basis.
3. A Personalized Approach
Most importantly, Instagram stories allow you to engage with your audience in a most genuine way. Consumers are fed up with ads and accounts that portray an unrealistic image of what someone should look like. They want to follow someone they can relate to, someone who is real with them. By showing your face without making up or taking pictures or your favorite mugs, cats or places, you let your fans start to form a connective with you. This connection is what ultimately drives the buying decisions’ of today’s fool-proof consumer.
What your stories should look like every day:
The idea of Stories is for people to understand who you are as a person so they can form a genuine connection with you. Today, people want to feel more connected than ever to the person they are buying from--especially when they’re choosing a health, fitness or wellness coach!
Stories should be used for giving value and building a connection. Here are some quick tips on how to do just that.

How To Use Stories & Playbook
1. Share your community and clients
One of the most important strategies for your digital success is your community re-post strategy. Before making any purchase decisions, consumers need social proof that your product (in this case, your Channel) is legit. By sharing the positive experiences of your current clients and subscribers, you are providing potential customers with the proof they need to commit to your subscription. You’re also making one of your fans feel really special for the day. It’s a win-win!
Export comments from the Playbook Creator app:
Open up your Creator app
Click on Community in the bottom right
Choose a comment you would like to re-post
Click on the image icon below the comment
Instagram automatically opens, swipe left to go to add to your stories

Repost a community member who has tagged you in their stories
When one of your fans tags you in their stories, you’ll receive a message in your DMs (TIP: check your requested messages too! If you don’t follow someone and they tag you, you’ll be able to find their stories here). This is an excellent opportunity to engage with your community and thank your fan for promoting your Playbook Channel!
To re-post their stories:
- Screenshot the image of them tagging you in their stories
- Go to your IG, open your images, and add this screenshot
- Write a nice comment thanking your follower for tagging you (or whatever was relevant to their post)
- Don’t forget to tag their Instagram handle!
- Upload to your stories
PRO TIP: If someone tags you in a video story, you can’t screenshot and share. To do this and save pictures from your fans’ stories, download the Quick Repost app from the App Store.
Use comments on your Instagram feed to call out followers on your stories
Here’s just an example of how you can take a comment from one of your Instagram pictures, and turn it into a way to publicly thank followers who engage with you. This will encourage more followers to comment on your pictures in the hopes that you’ll call them out of your stories as well!
Create hype around your channel
Your stories are a great place to get your followers excited about a big upcoming event, or new product launch.

Take videos of you working out or engaging in your healthiest habits
Insta-famous fitness guru Alexia Clark uploads some of her workouts to her stories.

Use polls to increase engagement, or learn about what your followers want to see more of
Example: Kayla polled her followers to ask what they want to see more of in her feed. This is a great way to get to know your audience better and produce content they want!

FINALLY... Document, don’t create
Last but not least, remember that your fans love your stories because they give followers the best look at who you really are. Document your funny moments, add bloopers, be real. Don’t use stories to create perfection. Instead, document all of the imperfect things that are going on around you. Be authentically you because that’s what’s going to win over the hearts of your fans :)
