Who He Is

The strength coach who moves like a linebacker and coaches like no one else in the space

Judd Lienhard has an exercise science degree, a military background, and 15 years of coaching split between adult training and youth athletic development. He trains kids for speed and agility. That means a 250-pound guy who looks like a bodybuilder moves on camera like a linebacker. That gap is the hook.

His content does not stay in the lane fitness content typically occupies. He draws on military history, philosophy, and psychology to make fitness arguments that feel unlike anything else in the space. He is, by his own description, extremely open and vulnerable: a veteran dealing with PTSD, a divorced dad who fought for more time with his son, a man in middle age figuring out what that means. That combination of intellectual depth and personal rawness has built a subscriber base that does not just follow him. They commit.

“My trick has been be extremely real. Be so real that sometimes it might make people upset or uncomfortable. As long as it’s genuine to who you are as a person.”

The Before

$120K a year, six days a week, and never seeing his son

For most of his coaching career, Judd’s schedule was built around his clients, not his family. Adults in the morning, youth athletes in the evening, six days a week, all day Saturday. “The days you don’t work, you don’t make money,” he says. Family vacations were capped at three days because the drive time ate two of them. A week-long trip had not happened in 15 years.

When his marriage ended, the schedule problem became a legal one. In a custody arrangement, a trainer who works every evening and every weekend does not get to see his kid on evenings and weekends. “I had to do something else. I was in an extended court battle just trying to get more custody of my son. I had to show the judge that I don’t have to work every night. I don’t have to work every weekend. I have the financial means to support my son.”

He had been posting on Instagram inconsistently with the vague idea of maybe making a few thousand dollars a month on the side. He was not thinking bigger than that.

“It was born from desperation. I just wanted the freedom to take week-long vacations. I hadn’t taken one in 15 years.”

Why Playbook

10,000 new followers in a day and a platform that felt genuine

The reel that changed everything was not planned. Judd posted a clip of himself doing speed drills, the kind of movement work he does with youth clients every day. A 250-pound strength coach who moves that way is apparently not something the internet had seen before. It took off. When a friend texted asking if he had bought followers, he went back to check. He had gained 10,000 in a day and had no plan for what to do with that.

Playbook reached out. He was filtering through a lot of inquiries at that point and was careful about who seemed genuine versus who seemed like another bad deal. He had already made mistakes with people who were not as advertised. Playbook was different.

His goal going in was modest. “We were hoping we could make 5 to 10 grand a month. That was like our dream goal.”

“You guys seem genuine in what you did, and you made the process very easy and straightforward with very little financial risk on our part.”

How He Does It

A coaching system with 20+ programs, built around one method

Judd’s content strategy and his product are the same thing: say what other coaches won’t, then back it up with a system that actually works. His Playbook app is built around the Mass Method, a structured progression that takes subscribers from beginner through advanced and into hypertrophy, three phases at each level. Beyond the core track, subscribers get specialized programs for speed, strength, and tactical training, plus targeted work for lower body, hip strength and mobility, minimal equipment, and 30-minute sessions. New subscribers are walked in through a “Start Here” and “Your First Week” onboarding track before they touch anything else.

The subscription is $24.99 a month or $129 a year, with a 7-day free trial on both plans. At those prices, the annual plan works out to about $10.75 a month. For subscribers who trust him enough to commit upfront, it is an easy decision.

“You might have the best information in the world, but if you don’t get them to slow down and stop scrolling, no one’s going to see it.”

Judd went into Playbook hoping to make $5,000 to $10,000 a month on the side. What he built instead is a subscription business with more than 6,000 paid members, a library of 20+ published programs built around the Mass Method, and monthly recurring revenue well into five figures. His subscribers access everything for $24.99 a month or $129 a year, with a 7-day free trial on both plans. The majority chose to pay for the full year upfront.

What’s Building Next

A week at the coast with his kid, and a business that goes with him

The custody battle that started all of this is over. Judd now takes week-long vacations with his son Levi, something that was not possible for 15 years on a solo trainer’s schedule. The business goes with him. “I can still work on the trip. It’s not like I’m not going to work. But Levi’s asleep. I do my reels, I do my content. He comes with me, I film a couple exercises, make a reel, engage with some people, and then the rest of the day it’s me and him.”

What Playbook gave Judd was not just a platform. It was the infrastructure to convert an audience into recurring revenue stable enough to walk into a courtroom and prove he could be present for his son. Most in-person trainers who go viral burn through the moment because they have no product to send people to. Judd had Playbook. That is the difference between a good week on Instagram and a 6-figure business that travels with you.
